Cleveland Cultural Gardens August 27, 2017
The 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens took place on Sunday August 27, 20-17. Over 25,000 people attended the day.
One of the highlights of the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens was the Parade of Flags. About 30 communities were represented. New this year were the Pakistani and Indonesian groups. As they marched down MLK Blvd. Sheila Murphy Crawford from the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation and Ch 19 WOIO Anchor Chris Tanaka announced the units.
The main ceremony at the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens began with Sheila Murphy Crawford from the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation welcoming the crowd and introducing the Cleveland Police Color Guard and the young singer who led the national anthem.

Next, Sheila Murphy Crawford introduced the current president Dr. Wael Khoury. Dr. Khoury told of the plans for the Cleveland Cultural Gardens which include the Centennial Peace Plaza and many more ethnic gardens.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson spoke at the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. He presented a proclamation to the past-president of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation Sheila Murphy Crawford and the current president Dr. Wael Khoury.
Sheila Murphy Crawford introduced some dignitaries in the audience and thanked the delegates of the more than 30 cultural gardens.
Judge Solomon Oliver spoke at the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens before administering the Oath of Citizenship. He congratulated the people becoming citizens and welcomed them.
Judge Solomon Oliver administered the Oath of Citizenship at the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. About 25 people from almost 20 countries became US Citizens that day.
The new citizens were called onstage and posed with Judge Solomon Oliver and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson.
Dr. Wael Khoury, president of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation, showed plans for the new Centennial Peace Plaza at the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The ceremony ended with past-president Sheila Murphy Crawford who called up students from Hawken School who led the Pledge of Allegiance and sang America the Beautiful.
Greek Community at 72nd annual One World Day
Over 25,000 people attended the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens on Sunday August 27, 2017. The weather was beautiful and the Greek Cultural Garden looked terrific and was a popular destination.
Representatives from the Hellenic Preservation Society of Northeastern Ohio (HPS) were on hand to answer questions about Greek culture.

Traditional Greek bouzouki music was performed in the Greek Cultural Garden by Abraham Anastasiadis & Athanasios Sarantopoulos.

A group of St Paul Senior Hellenic Dancers performed traditional Greek dances.
Though the Pakistani Cultural Garden is still in the planning and fund-raising phase, the Cleveland Pakistani community was out in full force at the 72nd annual One World Day.
Members of the community marched in the annual Parade of Flags.
Later at the site of the Pakistani Garden there was food, music, games for kids, information and lots of fun.
The Vietnamese Cultural Garden in Cleveland Ohio hosted a flag-raising ceremony on the 72nd annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.
The Garden was decorated beautifully and Vietnamese food, drink and culture were shared with visitors.

Later in the day representatives of the Vietnamese Cultural Garden marched in the Parade of Flags.
