The World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA), founded in 1956, holds an international Congress every four years to gather Jesuit friends and alumni-from as many as 50 countries representing a global network of Jesuit ministries-to build international networks and affirm Jesuit centric values for a greater good.

From June 28-July 2, 2017, WUJA met for the first time ever in North America, at John Carroll University, in Cleveland, Ohio. WUJA 2017 gathered renowned, world-class speakers committed to Uniting Our Jesuit Frontiers in the arts, business, science, law, spirituality, theology, faith and leadership, service, and justice.

The keynote address on the opening night of the conference was given by Christopher Lowney, Chairman of the Board of Catholic Health Initiatives.

Chris Lowney chairs the board of Catholic Health Initiatives, one of the nation’s largest healthcare/hospital systems with some $ 19 billion in assets. He is a one-time Jesuit seminarian who later served as a Managing Director of J.P. Morgan & Co in New York, Tokyo, Singapore and London until leaving the firm in 2001.

Chris served as volunteer founding president of Jesuit Commons, an innovative collaboration which offers online university education in refugee camps in Africa and elsewhere. He conceived and co-founded Contemplative Leaders in Action, an emerging leader formation program now active in a half-dozen cities. He founded Pilgrimage for Our Children’s Future, which funds education and healthcare projects in the developing world.

Karl Ertle, President of Walsh Jesuit High School (a private, Jesuit Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) was the MC for the opening event of the 2017 WUJA (World Union of Jesuit Alumni) Congress at John Carroll University. Karl introduced Christopher Lowney who gave the keynote address Wednesday evening titled "Dirty Laundry, Dusty Shoes and a thorn in the side: Leadership Thoughts for WUJA."

In his presentation, Lowney spoke of the lack of confidence in leaders in all sectors and how we should look to ourselves, not just to the famous, for the qualities of leadership.

Chris Lowney continued with a case study of a great leader - Pope Francis. He told the story of the Pope doing the laundry to set an example. Also washing the feet of the poor. Lowney said that leaders serve a purpose greater than selves.

Chris Lowney told the group that though they only numbered in the hundreds a small group can change the world.

Lowney spoke about the Magis. Magis is a Latin word that means "more" or "better" and related to Ad majorem Dei gloriam, a Latin phrase meaning "for the greater glory of God." Magis refers to the philosophy of doing more, for Christ, and therefore doing more for others.

Chris Lowney spoke about possible Magis initiatives and offered 3 ideas to get things started.
  1. A weeklong alumni pilgrimage in the steps of St Ignatius.
  2. Jesuit school social entrepreneur competitions
  3. Perpetual prayer chain around the clock (Jesuit alumni live in every time zone of the world).

He then gave the attendees time to come up with ideas for Magis initiatives and then heard from a few.

We Pray the Rosary - Living Rosary DVD

Hail Mary, Full of Grace…

This DVD is a Living Rosary in the sense that over 200 people participated in saying a prayer. 3 bishops, numerous priests and sisters and a variety of lay people all said a prayer (Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary or Glory Be) that when put together combine to form the complete Rosary.

All 4 Mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous) are included and there is an extra Decade for your special intentions.

We hope that this DVD inspires you to pray the Rosary more frequently. You can choose to view/pray a single Decade, a complete Mystery or all 4 Mysteries. The DVD includes a listing of all the Mysteries.

The Rosary is a great gift given to us by Our Blessed Mother.
