Teacher Appreciation Day 2019 Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University October 4, 2019
The Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University hosts an annual Teacher Appreciation Day. Hundreds of teachers and students gathered on October 4, 2019 to learn about Chinese language and culture teaching and learning. They also heard about the Chinese Summer Bridge Camp and other opportunities available to both teachers and students.

Ms. Wenjing Wang, Teacher of MC2 STEM High School in Cleveland, told about the 2019 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp of the Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University.

Next, Miss Kimyana Macy Hammett, Student of Shaw High School in East Cleveland, told about her experience in Beijing at the 2019 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp.

Iranian American Mr. Ali Soltanshahi, Director of CSU-CISP, spoke about the value of international education at the annual Confucius Institute Teacher Appreciation Day at Cleveland State University. He told his story of leaving Iran to live in France, only speaking Farsi, and eventually the United States and the issues in being a minority for the first time.

The Keynote Address was given by Dr. Xizhen Qin, Associate Professor of University of South Florida. Her topic was Revisiting the Concept of Culture in Foreign Language Classroom.

Proclamations were presented to Dr. Yan Xu, Director of CSU-CI, by Ms. Esther Kelsch, Representative of US Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge and Mr. Alexander Lackey, Representative of Mayor Frank G. Jackson.
