Cleveland German Music Society
German Cultural Garden Concert July 10, 2011
The concert featured the sounds of traditional German music performed by musicians from three Northeast Ohio "Blaskapelle", or "brass bands", namely the Deutscher Musik Verein, the Youngstown Saxon Blaskapelle and the Donauschwäbische Blaskapelle. They performed separately and together the German Cultural Garden with Goethe and Schiller looking on.
The Conrad Mizer/Karl Wolfram Memorial Garden Concert is an annual event. Conrad Mizer, a German emigre, promoted summer band concerts in Cleveland public parks. Karl Wolfram was one of the founders of the Cleveland's Cultural Gardens and was the first president of the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation.
Congratulations to Hans Kopp and his crew for their work on the concert and the German Cultural Garden.

Schuhplattler und Trachtenverein Bavaria is actually a German Schuhplattler dance group. They competed with similar clubs from the U.S. and Canada on July 1 and 2, 2011 at the 23. Gaufest in Orlando. Florida and placed first!
