Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland Annual Ball October 13, 2012
The Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland held their Annual Banquet and Ball at LaCentre in Westlake Ohio on Saturday October 13, 2012. The event was special for numerous reasons. One, was the 2012 Mayo Person of the Year, James C. Boland.
Another was the appearance and speech given by the Taoiseach of Ireland, Enda Kenny
Congratulations to Gerald Quinn, Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland President and Thomas Scanlon and Sean Hardy who served as Co-chairs of the event. It was a night to be remembered.
After a cocktail/networking hour (see photos of the attendees), the Taoiseach and others were seated for dinner. Event Co-Chair Sean Hardy began the program and Fr. John McNulty gave the invocation.
Katie Cooper sang the national anthems and Thomas J. Scanlon, Event Co-Chairman continued the program.

Peter Hynes, Mayo County Manager told how they will build on the twinning of Achill Island and Cleveland with a stronger relationship between Mayo and Cuyahoga counties.

Cyril Burke, Mayo County Ireland Chairman officially invited everyone to visit Mayo in 2013 for The Gathering.

Pat Kilbane, Achill Island Chairman told how the twinning of Cleveland and Achill took place. He said that Ireland is in very good hands with Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Gerry then listed some of the many accomplishments of James C. Boland and introduced him as the 2012 Mayo Person of the Year.

After his speech, the Taoiseach was was given special gifts from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Orchestra.
