The 19th year of the Republic of Macedonia's independence was celebrated at Cleveland City Hall steps on Sept 8, 2010, by Macedonians from all over NorthEast Ohio. Valarie McCall, Chief of Government Affairs represented Mayor Frank Jackson's office.
Also in attendance were Father Vasil Manasiev, Parish Priest of St Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Church, Avon, OH and Father Zoran Zdravev, Parish Priest of St Nikola Macedonian Orthodox Church of Green, OH, who said the blessing for the day.
Pavle Dolovski, also from St Clements, served as Master of Ceremonies, assisted by Pete Gorgievski of St Nikola Church, who raised the flag atop Cleveland City Hall. Members of both churches, as well as Macedonian Patriotic Organization's "Club Vardar," stood together in unity to celebrate this important event. The ceremony celebrated September 8, 1991 when over 95.5% of the citizens voted for independence of the Republic of Macedonia. Thanks to our Macedonian Ambassador Andrea Andrioff Alusheff for providing these photos.
