Flag Day in Mexico takes place on February 24. Día de la Bandera ("Flag Day") is a national holiday in Mexico. It was established by the President of Mexico, General Lázaro Cárdenas, before the monument to General Vicente Guerrero, first to pledge allegiance to the Mexican flag on March 12, 1821.
In Cleveland, members of the Mexican Committee in Cleveland celebrated the Mexican Flag Day at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.

ClevelandPeople.com Mexican Ambassador Andrea Villalon reports that The Mexican Flag is a symbol of freedom, justice and values of the Mexicans.
The green color of the flag represents freedom and hope.
The white color of the flag represents unity.
The red color of the flag represents the Heroes of the Independence of Mexico.
The emblem represents the legendary story of the Aztecs who built their empire on a spot where they found an eagle eating a snake on top of a cactus in the middle of a lake.
Andrea says, "The day of the Mexican Flag is a special occasion to reflect in our identity, pride and love for Mexico. Also, our commitment to serve our community and create peace and bridges of communication and understanding for the benefit of the world. "
