The Cleveland American Middle East Organization (CAMEO) is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian political action organization established in 1970.

They celebrated their 49th anniversary at a dinner event at St. Elias Cultural Center. After a networking hour, the 49th anniversary event was begun by 1st Vice-President Tony Abdulkarim.

Tony welcomed the crowd and introduced MC and 2nd Vice-President Fred Bourjaily.

Fred introduced Ohio State Representative Tom Patton who led the Pledge of Allegiance. Then Imam Ramez Islambouli gave the invocation.

Next, Fred Bourjaily called up the other members of the CAMEO board. They were then sworn in by the Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish.

After a delicious dinner, CAMEO President Pierre Bejjani gave his remarks explaining the group and then thanked Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish.

Before the awards ceremony, President Pierre Bejjani recognized the Cleveland Public Theatre represented by Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan and Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi for the outstanding world premiere play called Dream of Home. He called up the ensemble and Faye Hargate, Director of Community Ensembles, spoke.

Next was the awards ceremony. First was to the Mediterranean Market. President Pierre Bejjani introduced first vice president Tony Abdulkarim who introduced Gus and George Karim of the Mediterranean Market for their award.

Next, Pierre Bejjani introduced Murat Rabah, the son of 95 year old Husein Rabah, who introduced his father for an award.

President Pierre Bejjani then introduced Dr. Wael Khoury to introduce his Cleveland Clinic colleague Dr. Nizar Zein for his award.

Before the end of the evening, Nada Martinovics from the US Census Bureau told of the importance of everyone being counted in the 2020 Census.
