The Russian Cultural Garden hosted its first inaugural "Grand Piano in the Russian Garden" concert. The event took place on the site of a future Russian Cultural Garden on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Rockefeller Park.The concert's theme was "Music of the Cultural Gardens of Cleveland" and featured works from composers in other Cultural Gardens such as Chopin (Polish Garden) and Liszt (Hungarian Garden). Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky represented the future Russian Garden.
Svetlana Stolyarova , chairman of the Russian Cultural Garden board, welcomed the crowd and said this is the inaugural Russian Garden concert but they plan to make it an annual event.

Svetlana introduced Sheila Murphy Crawford, president of the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation, who welcomed the Russian Garden to the family and thanked the hard working volunteers led by Svetlana Stolyarova and Boris Vinogradsky.

Next, Paul Burik, Vice-president of the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation, spoke and said that the theme of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens is Peace though Mutual Understanding.

Before the main performance, Svetlana Stolyarova introduced 3 young girls who performed on the grand piano in the Russian Cultural Garden. Victoria Zemskov, Raisa Bolotova and Yulia Okun performed as their teacher Svetlana Ivanova looked on.

Svetlana Stolyarova spoke in Russian and English and explained that the performance included works by composers honored in other Cultural Gardens such as Liszt and Chopin and also Russian composers Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

After the performance, Svetlana Stolyarova invited the 3 performers - Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev, Dmitry Tyurin and Nara Avetisyan - to the stage where they were presented with flowers as the audience cheered.
