2011 Continental Cup
Opening Ceremony
John Carroll University
June 30, 2011

Historically, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission has competed with other cities to bring events to town. Several years ago, they decided to create their own events. The first was the Continental Cup.

The Continental Cup is on its way to becoming the largest international youth sports festival in the world. It will bring in over $4 million to the local economy this year. 3600 athletes from around the world filled up John Carroll University and 14 different hotels around NEO.

The Opening Ceremonies were held at JCU.

David Gilbert, President and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, discussed the growth and financial impact of the annual Continental Cup during the kickoff ceremony.

Gilbert introduced Cuyahoga County Executive Ed Fitzgerald who spoke about the County's commitment to the event.
