The ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Global Cleveland Welcome Center took place on Tuesday February 7, 2012. A packed house gathered on the 3rd floor of the Huntington Building at 200 Public Square and heard opening remarks from several involved in the new Welcome Center.

Larry Miller, President of Global Cleveland, welcomed the crowd and encouraged us all to be ambassadors for the city.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson told how Cleveland has always been a welcoming city.

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed Fitzgerald said that while other cities may reject new and different people, Cleveland will prosper because of our welcoming approach.

Global Cleveland Chairman Baiju Shah acknowledged the many board and advisory board members and other partners who helped bring this dream to a reality.

Huntington Bank President Dan Walsh was an early supporter of the project and he spoke about the business impact.

Tom Tomasula of the Lubrizol Corporation spoke about the importance of a welcoming community in order to attract and retain talent.

After the speeches, the crowd traveled downstairs to the Euclid Ave. side of the building for the ribbon cutting. Dan Walsh, Ed Fitzgerald, Frank Jackson, Larry Miller and Baiju Shah cut the ribbon and rolled out the carpet to officially open the Global Cleveland Welcome Center.
