The Greater Cleveland Chinese Chamber of Commerce hosted a special event at the Cleveland Museum of Art on February 26, 2025 to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The Greater Cleveland Chinese Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization serving

  • Chinese American and Chinese business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs and students in Northeast Ohio.
  • Chinese companies that are interested in doing business in Northeast Ohio.
  • American companies and professionals in Northeast Ohio that want to learn more about doing business in China.

She then introduced Andria Derstine, Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Next Su He read a message from Blaine Griffin, Cleveland City Council President.

The special guest was Chen Li, Consul General, Chinese Consulate General in New York, who made his first trip to Ohio. He spoke about trade and student statistics and opportunities between China and Ohio.

A special treat was a performance by Zhan Shu and Katherine Bormann who are violinists with the Cleveland Orchestra. Zhan Shu explained that this piece is usually for one violin and a piano but he created his own arrangement to make it a violin duet.

Zhan Shu then spoke about the Chinese Musicians Association of North America. Their mission is to
  1. Preserve and Promote Chinese Instruments: Ensure traditional Chinese instruments' enduring relevance and appreciation.
  2. Encourage New Music: Foster innovative compositions that blend traditional Chinese elements with contemporary music.
  3. Build a Global Community: Connect musicians and audiences worldwide, fostering cross-cultural collaboration through music.
Zhan Shu told about a special concert on Friday, April 11, 2025, 7:30-9:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art called The Sound of Blooming: A Musical Tale of Spring.
