Cleveland Ballet Theater at Maslenitsa Sherwin-Gilmour Party Center Mayfield Heights, Ohio March 2, 2025
On March 2, 2025 the Cleveland Russian Cultural Garden continued their tradition and hosted a Maslenitsa celebration for hundreds of people. Maslenitsa has its origins in both pagan and Christian traditions. In Slavic mythology, Maslenitsa is a celebration of the imminent end of the winter. It has been compared to Mardi Gras or Carnival.
One of the performance groups at the event was the Cleveland Ballet Theatre which has educated generations for 24 years, offering classes from ages two to adult in the art of dance. The dance group was led by Algerim Alibek.
The group performed several dances of varying styles and in a variety of amazing costumes.
