Ukrainian Independence Festival St Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral Ukrainian Village - Parma Ohio August 26, 2023
United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio hosted a parade on Saturday August 26, 2023 to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence. After the Parade there was a ceremony followed by a festival at St. Josaphat Church.
In this first video, MC Roman Fedkiw called on V. Rev. John Nakonachny, pastor of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, for the invocation. They then raised the flags of the USA and Ukraine and the US national anthem was sung by Julie Anna Gulenko and then the national anthem of Ukraine was sung.
In the second video, Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter and Ohio State Rep Sean Brennan spoke. Next UUOO President Marta Liscynesky Kelleher and UUOO Vice-President George Jaskiw spoke. Mitch Biena from the Polish community and Ingrida Bublys from the Lithuanian community spoke. Then Roman Fedkiw thanked people and called on Rev. Volodymyr Hrytsyuk, Pastor of Saint Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, for the benediction. Then they gathered for a photo.
